A monthly guide to becoming a more effective disciple-maker.
The Commission: Jesus’ Famous Last Words
Jesus’ famous last words to His followers were to “go into all the world and make disciples.” (Matthew 28:19) The word “go” is a passive participle and means “as you are going.” Jesus knew we would “go”—to breakfast, to work, to the kids’ games, and then back home—but His point is, as we are going, wherever that may be, we are to make disciples.
The Promise
We are not alone. We have been “co-missioned” by Jesus, who promised He is with us always and has empowered us with the indwelling Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:20, John 14:17, Acts 1:4-5) We go into the world with Jesus and the full backing of Heaven. Because the Holy Spirit lives in us, God is present when we are present, which presents us with opportunities to make disciples anywhere. We are called to be Everyday Missionaries!
